  5. 5.Cover the ice cream and cake completely with the meringue, making sure no ice cream is visible and creating decorative peaks with the back of a spoon.
  6. 6.Bake in the preheated oven for 3-5 minutes, or until meringue is golden.
  7. 7.Warm the rum slightly, then pour over the baked Alaska and carefully ignite with a long match to flambe. Serve immediately after the flames subside.
